Ey lads, here I am with my favorite albums of 2016. The most anticipated album for me was Dream Theater’s The Astonishing. I’ll never forget the proggy, astonishing and cinematic experience of listening to this sonic ecstasy.

So in 2016, my passion for cinema was alive and kicking too. My most favorite and best film of the year was High-Rise. This movie was one of the most breathtaking movies I’d ever seen. Every single frame was so surreal and electrifying yet so damn tantalizing.

Let’s get straight to our favorite albums of 2015.
2015 was once again so good for music especially for prog, indie music and dream pop.
The biggest news for the prog was, when it got it’s own Official Progressive Albums Chart endorsed by the Official Charts Company.
So for me the most important album of the year was Tame Impala’s Currents. It was like a drug doing weird things to you. You could do anything while listening to this album. It’s so effing addicting.
Easily my favorite album of 2015 without a doubt. And you know, this album is for music listeners of every genre. Lucky are the people who can identify this gemstone among so many famous shinning crap albums.
Well, the other important albums were Beach House’s Depression Cherry, which is the No.1 dream pop album of 2015 and I can say that it will be remembered as a masterpiece in the upcoming years along with none other than Tame Impala’s Currents. I’ll say it again that these both albums should be included in any music listener’s playlist.
So when I think about prog in 2015, the first thing that comes to my mind is Steven Wilson’s Hand Cannot Erase, it was a perfect album but in my mind I think of prog chart too, I also think about the upcoming most anticipated album of 2016 which is Dream Theater’s The Astonishing.
But when I think about best prog album of 2015, then four names comes to my mind and they all equally loved by me.
Well, these albums are Tame Impala’s Currents, Gazpacho’s Molok, Big Big Trains Wassail, and Riverside’s Love, Fear, And The Time Machine.
All four of them were phenomenal prog albums. Last year, Gazpacho’s Demon was one of my favorite albums and this year their album is my favorite too.
Last year my No.1 prog album was Anathema’s Distant Satellites and this year, Tame Impala’s Currents so which sort of reminded me of Distant Satellites too. Did I forget to tell you all that how good Muse’s Drones was? It was as good as their whole discography.
Anyway, here is the list of all the albums I was listening in 2015 which are from 2015.

On 29th, March, 2015, Australia won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 for the fifth time beating New Zealand by 7 wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
It was an honor to watch such an impressive, right on cricket from Aussies which they always play. When Australia and South Africa play cricket, you get hard ons in your in your eyes and body like you’re experiencing raw dog. In simple words, they’re beauty of cricket is nothing without them.
So Michael Clarke won the Cricket World Cup for the 5th time for Australia, before him Ricky Ponting won two Cricket World Cups in 2003 and 2007, Steve Waugh won one Cricket World Cup in 1999 and Allan Border won one Cricket World Cup in 1987 too. So no other team is closer to us in terms of Cricket World Cup wins and only South Africa comes closer to our skills and talent. Which means we’re fucking Gods of Cricket.
We were emotional through out this World Cup too because we lost our brother, Phillip Hughes on November, 27th, 2014, Hughesy, who was a passionate cricketer and phenomenal batsman. He was hit in the neck by a bouncer during a domestic first-class match on November, 25th 2014 and after remaining in coma, he died on November, 27th 2014. So winning of this World Cup was important for fans and Australian Cricket Team too. Michael Clarke even wore a black arm band featuring the initials PH in memory of Phillip Hughes. And after winning World Cup he said: “I’ll wear it every game I play for Australia, It’s been a really tough few months, we’ve played this World Cup with 16 players. Tonight, this is dedicated to our little brother and teammate Phillip Hughes. I’m over the moon — what a tournament, Time is right for me to walk away from one-day cricket.”
I agree with Clarke too, Hughesy will remain part of our team forever just like Sir Don Bradman. This world cup is for you Hughesy, Phillip Hughes, 408, 63 Not Out Forever.
We’re the champions. We’re mighty Aussies. We’re fucking phenomenal. We’re beyond perfection. We’re Champions for eternity. We’re Australian cricket team.

Inherent Vice, a film that can only be described in two words: right on. It’s the seventh film by Paul Thomas Anderson and it is dazed, witty, groovy and mysterious. It reminded me of “The Dude” from “The Big Lebowski”, “Raoul Duke” from “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and “Hunter S. Thompson” from ”Where the Buffalo Roam”. It’s Paul Thomas Anderson at his funniest/best. A certain kind of humorous, melancholic and confusing tone is spread all over the movie which is making it more thrilling to watch. Like in all Paul Thomas Anderson films, music is fucking A too.
I’m not going to tell you it’s plot but all I’m going to say is that “Doc” is puzzled but “Doc” knows how to investigate, “Doc” rules. This is the year of “Doc”. Joaquin Phoenix as Larry “Doc” Sportello is perfect. Joaquin Phoenix is really an underrated actor, I wish I can give him all the awards of this world.
Inherent Vice’s cast is super talented too. Joaquin Phoenix as Larry “Doc” Sportello, Katherine Waterston as Shasta Fay Hepworth, Josh Brolin as Det. Christian F. “Bigfoot” Bjornsen, Owen Wilson as Coy Harlingen, Benicio del Toro as Sauncho Smilax, Esq, Reese Witherspoon as Penny Kimball, Joanna Newsom as Sortilège, Eric Roberts as Michael Z. “Mickey” Wolfmann, Hong Chau as Jade, Martin Short as Dr. Rudy Blatnoyd. Every actor did a great job, they all were flawless.
Just give it time and it’s going to be the greatest classic film ever made. It’s going to be one of the best cult films ever made. And it’s going to be the most interesting neo-noir film ever made. It was nominated for only two awards at the 87th Academy Awards which is disgusting. These Oscar guys know nothing. Inherent Vice deserved at least 10 nominations and 8 Oscars but fuck it.
Anyway I’m just standing and clapping for Paul Thomas Anderson, he once again did a marvelous job. I’m also clapping for the hard work of it’s actors and crew members. You guys were brilliant.
I am pretty sure; you guys are going to watch it again after the first watch. I love this movie to death. Hey Joaquin Phoenix and Paul Thomas Anderson! You mofos rule.

Hi-ho! For most proggers Opeth’s “Pale Communion” was the most anticipated album of 2014 but not for me. The most anticipated albums for me was Anathema’s “Distant Satellites”, The Pineapple Thief’s “Magnolia” and Yes’s “Heaven & Earth”. All these anticipated albums haven’t failed my expectations as most people are saying about Yes’s “Heaven & Earth” that it’s disappointing. Well it isn’t, it’s a decent album and needs time plus more listens. Anyway Anathema’s “Distant Satellites”. The Pineapple Thief’s “Magnolia”, Opeth’s “Pale Communion” never fails to aspire ears with well balanced music, mixing and lyrics. Today, I’m gonna talk about a documentary which is about Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune, a cinematographic masterpiece which was never made.
But first let’s look at Alejandro Jodorowsky’s thoughts on making Dune: “I wanted to make a film that would give the people who took LSD at that time, the hallucinations that you get with that drug, but without hallucinating. I did not want LSD to be taken, I wanted to fabricate the drug’s effects. This film was going to change the public’s perceptions.”
Alejandro Jodorowsky surely knows how to make a perfect surreal movie and it’s evidence is his movies: El Topo, The Holy Mountain, Fando y Lis which are no doubt surreal marvels.
How such a film was never made maybe because Hollywood was scared of Jodorowsky’s Dune that it would open minds of people and Hollywood not wanted masterpieces but blockbusters. And thus we saw Star Wars otherwise Jodorowsky’s Dune was way ahead of it’s time.
Michel Seydoux, Jean-Paul Gibon, Nicolas Winding Refn, Richard Stanley, Gary Kurtz, Devin Faraci, Drew McWeeny and Brontis Jodorowsky also made appearance plus commented on Jodorowsky’s Dune.
Jodorowsky’s Dune also shows us how much hardworking Jodorowsky’s spiritual warriors were. For instance, Jodorowsky trained his 12 year son Brontis Jodorowsky karate, judo, aikido and atemi-jitsu six hours a day, seven days a week for two year by stunt coordinator Jean-Pierre Vignau because Alejandro wanted Brontis Jodorowsky to be the character himself. This is called madness, madness of a true warrior and artist which no doubt Alejandro Jodorowsky is.

What you need more, there was abundance of talent in Alejandro Jodorowsky’s selected spiritual warriors: Salvador Dali, Pink Floyd, Mick Jagger, David Carradine, Orson Welles, Magma, Moebius, H. R. Giger, Udo Kier and they all said “Yes”, “Yes”, “Yes”.
Salvador Dali agreed to work with Jodorowsky but he wanted to be the best paid actor in Hollywood. He wanted $100,000 per hour but Michel Seydoux said that they will give him $100,000 per minute. Dali became excited and said that he’s the only $100,000 per minute actor in the world.
Jodorowsky’s Dune was beyond the imagination of Hollywood. How can you say no to Alejandro Jodorowsky? Hollywood! Are you kidding me? How can you say no to the greatest movie to be made? Yes Hollaywood! You can say no to Jodorowsky’s Dune because you have got no imagination at all. You’re just encouraging copy/paste technique. Stars Wars is nothing or any of your blockbuster movie is nothing when you see that it’s all copied from Jodorowsky’s Dune.
I hope a great art director living at any corner of the world can make this movie just like what Alejandro Jodorowsky wanted it to be like or maybe his son can make it.
Jodorowsky’s Dune has become my second favorite documentary film after Crumb (1994). It’s a must watch documentry film for all cinephiles out there.
At the end of this documentary, Alejandro Jodorowsky says these excellent words: “Have the greatest ambition possible. You want to be immortal? Fight to be immortal. Do it. You want to make the most fantastic art of movie? Try. If you fail, is not important. We need to try.”
